TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PARTS OF JALAN SULTAN ISMAIL AND JALAN BARAT TO MAKE WAY FOR TRX INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS

9th August 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, 09 August 2018 – Parts of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Barat around Imbi will be experiencing several traffic flow obstructions/diversions to make way for the infrastructure works for Tun Razak Exchange (TRX).

The affected routes, as shown in the maps, are the exit from Jalan Sultan Ismail towards Bulatan Kampung Pandan and Jalan Tun Razak (northbound), and parts of Jalan Barat (two lanes).

The closure of parts of Jalan Sultan Ismail will be implemented continuously, 24 hours daily, for approximately fourteen (14) months between 11th August 2018 and 31st  October 2019, while the closure of parts of Jalan Barat will be implemented gradually, 24 hours daily, for approximately three (3) months between 11th August 2018 and 18th November 2018.

The traffic flow obstructions/diversions are necessary to make way for the construction of TRX’s infrastructure and the upgrade of existing roads to cater for the area’s future traffic requirements. Once completed, the vital infrastructure will enable TRX to emerge as a world-class new central business district (CBD) for Kuala Lumpur.

Dato’ Azmar Talib, CEO of TRX City Sdn Bhd says, “Works are progressing steadily on TRX’s site, and based on our projection, the first phase of the international financial district, which includes the Exchange 106 and Menara Prudential, will open its doors early next year.”

“To ensure the smooth completion of this national project and for the sake of public safety, road closures and diversions in several locations around TRX are inevitable. However, TRX City, along with DBKL and the police, are commited to ensure that all road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented in the most organised and systematic manner.”

Mitigation steps that will be put in place include widening segments of the affected roads to facilitate safe U-turn, deploying traffic police to assist road users and control traffic flow, and disseminating latest traffic information via Waze application and DBKL’s ITIS electronic traffic display system.

Due to the closure of parts of Jalan Sultan Ismail, road users who plan to head to the Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong Sdn Bhd (“SMART Co.”) office via Jalan Sultan Ismail will have to take the designated route as illustrated in the map, which has a height limit of 2.0 metres.

Access to the SMART Tunnel entrance from Jalan Sultan Ismail is unaffected, and will remain open and accessible.

To ensure the safety of motorists and to avoid confusion, traffic users are advised to adhere to all traffic signboards. Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted.
