We will explore what liveability means to Kuala Lumpur and its people, and take a look at the progress of the city as we chart the phases of growth in Tun Razak Exchange. Welcome to My City. Welcome to TRX.
KL aspires to be one of the top 20 most liveable cities in the world. In 2014, Kuala Lumpur was placed at No. 70 in the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s Global Liveability Ranking, up nine spots from 2010.
In short, livability is about striking a balance between people’s desire for better quality of life, and the need to preserve natural resources and ecosystems.
In recent years, massive efforts have been put in to transform the city, with billion-ringgit projects such as the MRT, ‘river of life’ to revive Sungai Klang and Sungai Gombak, and the upgrade of the city’s parks and streetscape.
Public transport is especially critical to a city’s livability factor. With the MRT Line 1 expected to be operational from mid-2017, and the LRT extensions starting its service, KL's traffic woes should gradually ease up, improving the overall living quality for the city's residents.
Liveability is core to TRX development. In our effort to create an economic hub that is world-class, we need to ensure that the infrastructure we offer is good enough in helping build and attract the necessary talent to create a viable international financial district.
