MRT Corp recently announced that a three-month trial run of SBK Line’s Phase 1 between the Sungai Buloh station and Semantan will be starting on October 1.
This is very much a welcomed news, as KL folks have been patiently facing construction detours, road closures and some massive anxiety over driving under MRT tracks for a few years now.
Pictures of the sleek MRT train carriages on ‘test runs’ have been posted on social media with a lot of excited chatter among netizens. This test run follows closely the start of the LRT extension service that brought major suburbs such as Subang Jaya, Ara Damansara, Puchong and Putra heights on line.
News report quoted MRT CEO saying the progress of line 1 is now at 86%.
The MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (Line 1) is the first of the three planned Klang Valley lines to be constructed, from Sungai Buloh, running through the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, including through the TRX underground interchange, and ending in Kajang.
Phase One of Line 1 will become operational in December, while Phase Two, from Semantan to Kajang, will become operational by July 2017.
The construction of the KL MRT Line 2, known as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line, is due to begin this year and is expected to be operational in 2022.
