60 years ago, Tunku Abdul Rahman, the father of Malaysia, proclaimed our nation’s independence. The euphoria of newfound freedom permeated throughout the young nation. Finally, the people of Malaya earned their freedom to chart their own collective destiny.
Six years later, Malaysia that we know today was formed. A strong, vibrant multiracial federation bound together by the spirit of togetherness that transcends differences.
Today, we have come a long way. There is so much to celebrate. Malaysia continues to be a beacon of multiracial harmony and tolerance. However, there is still a lot more that we can achieve as nation, so on this day, let’s reflect on how we can all work together to make Malaysia an even better place. Let’s unite, for a better Malaysia.
