Foreign diplomats tour MRT and TRX
August 15, 2017

More than 30 Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Diplomats visited Tun Razak Exchange recently as part of InvestKL's initiative to showcase KL's public transport transformation, among other offerings the city has to provide.

InvestLKL has a mandate to promote KL as the investment hub of the region. To demonstrate the global-scaled projects and investment opportunities Malaysia is offering, Tun Razak Exchange, along with the MRT project was identified to be showcased to foreign diplomats.

The envoys arrived at the TRX MRT Interchange station after a train ride from the Bangsar LRT to the Pasar Seni MRT station and proceeded to board brand new MRT feeder buses to the TRX Gallery to get the real feel of KL’s new seamless transport network. They were greeted at the gallery by the TRX team including CEO Dato’ Azmar Talib and Executive Director Tan Hwa Min.

InvestKL CEO Datuk Zainal Amanshah, who led the delegation, said Greater KL is expecting to welcome 10 large MNCs by end of the year. “Investor confidence continues to be there. The fundamentals of Malaysia remain very strong in terms numbers, in terms of GDP, in terms of growth,” he added.

The diplomats were then welcomed to Tun Razak Exchange by CEO Dato’ Azmar, followed by a brief on TRX’s progress updates. Apart from speaking about the world-class investors who are currently on-board, Dato’ Azmar highlighted the important role the TRX MRT Interchange station will be playing in elevating the district’s connectivity.

The assembly, including ambassadors and high commissioners from the UK, Belgium, France, Pakistan, Sweden, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, Czech Republic, Ireland, Netherlands and South Korea, then moved to the upper deck of the gallery to view the physical progress of the construction works. Here, the guests took the chance to pose for pictures with the thriving TRX site in the background. Some were extra keen on the 60-year old Merdeka Tree, a symbol of TRX’s Sustainability and Green efforts.

Also present were Diplomats from the embassies of Turkmenistan, Italy, Uruguay, Poland, Japan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Austria, Germany, Spain, Denmark, China and the EU. This session has proven to be a golden opportunity for TRX to provide the Diplomats with a thorough view of the project development – both visionary and visual. The Diplomats were very engaged in TRX’s progress and its aspirations. They look forward to the completion of the financial district and even expressed interest to move their offices here.

TRX will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders and the public in the coming months. The recently held TRX Talk was a huge success, and similar discourses are well in planning. Watch this space
