The Public Realm is central to TRX’s identity. Nearly a quarter of the district is made up of people-centric open-green spaces: pedestrian walkways, plazas, and a park closely designed to benefit the community. These congregation areas also provide safe pedestrian ways to navigate the city and foster the sense of community, comfort, and convenience.
What sets TRX apart is how these public spaces also work harder behind the scenes. Here, a walkway may harness solar power, a terrace may sit atop a power plant, and a staircase may double as amphitheatre seating. In TRX, public realm design solves multiple needs at once.
Singgah Sana Plaza
A vibrant district needs a heart, and Singgah Sana Plaza is precisely that for TRX's Financial Quarter. Its original intent was to act as a pedestrian node that links Menara IQ and Menara Affin to Exchange 106, forming a critical junction in the district’s walkable network. From there, pedestrians are directly connected to TRX Mall and the MRT station.

Singgah Sana, one of the district's aesthetically stand-out spaces, serves as a flexible public realm, following TRX’s multifunctional planning approach. Its sunken amphitheatre, central to the space, operates as both a cultural stage and an informal seating zone. The plaza transitions easily between programmed events, quiet place to rest, and casual social interactions. Landscaped edges and shaded seating support lingering, while flat surfaces and wide steps accommodate everything from pop-up stalls to lunchtime crowds.
Barat Walk
Fronting Jalan Barat, Barat Walk started as the site for PPU2, one of TRX’s main power substations. But what began as a utility site now serves as a vibrant gathering space that blends infrastructure and connectivity.
TRX integrated the power substation into its public realm, when it was transformed into a connector that links to The Exchange TRX Mall to Jalan Barat, via a set of feature staircase and wide bridge. A welcoming space with terraced seating, lush landscaping, and shaded areas encourage visitors to slow down, unwind, and enjoy the surroundings. This exhibits the TRX’s approach to multifunctionality.
Selatan Terrace
Beneath the surface of TRX’s South Neighbourhood Plaza sits one of the district’s most essential infrastructure assets, the wastewater treatment and recycling plant, developed in collaboration with Veolia Water Technologies. This state-of-the-art facility treat and recycle at least 80% of the district’s used water, cutting potable water demand by 50%. Most importantly for public comfort, the entire system is engineered to be completely odorless, silent, clean, and invisible to those in the district.
On top of the plant sits Selatan Terrace, a space designed as an open public realm, that is connected to the TRX City Park. What could have been a single-use plot is now a two-tiered asset: essential environmental infrastructure below, vibrant public park above, poised to be TRX’s latest recreational destination.
MRT Walkway
The covered walkways along Jalan Utara were designed to provide safe, shaded routes for pedestrians moving between the northern edge of the district at Jalan Utara. Now, aolar panels have been installed atop the 904 sqm canopy, transforming the walkway into a clean energy generator that helped power 10% of the annual energy needs for the TRX loop tunnel.
This infrastructure now contributes to district-wide sustainability efforts while continuing to offer comfort and shelter for daily users. Engineered for durability and seamlessly integrated into the district’s smart energy system, the walkway shows how TRX layers utility, environmental function, and public comfort in a single urban solution.
