Tun Razak Exchange over the years
December 26, 2018

The Tun Razak Exchange has come a long way since its conception. Here's a pictorial timeline of the project over the years.

December 2010

December 2010 - Sitting along Jalan TunRazak near the Kampung Pandan roundabout, the 75-acre Tun Razak Exchange earmarks the Southern gateway into KL’s CBD. The area housed quarters for civil servants until late 1990s and then the  Pasar Rakyat, a market place for dried food items and souvenirs.

October 20

October 2015 - As the first earthworks by WCT neared completion in March 2015, TRX welcomed many of its plot developers namely; Lendlease to jointly develop its Lifestyle Quarter, Mulia Group for the Exchange 106 and Affin Bank Berhad for a new HQ. RM3billion had been allocated to build TRX’s Infrastructure alone.

January 2016

January 2016 - More excavation and foundation works were done to build the loop tunnel. The loop will allow direct access to and from major roads and highways like Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail, SMART, MEX and DUKE 3. TRX is also constructing new access with DBKL to alleviate traffic around the vicinity.

September 2017

September 2017 - When HSBC and Prudential came onboard to build their main offices in 2017, and the Exchange 106 hitting major construction milestones, the KL Skyline was slowly getting a facelift. The on-site Interchange MRT station for both the lines also started full operations that year.

October 2018

October 2018 - The Exchange 106 and Menara Prudential are both preparing for operations in 2019. As the towers finalise fitting and façade works, the TRX’s public realm is also fast taking shape with the first phase of streetscape works scheduled to be ready early 2019.

The coming year promises more progress and exciting news as the KL’s first Financial District comes alive.
