Overview
In 2013, following a mutual agreement with TRX City, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Myanmar-based Chin Refugee Committee (CRC), the occupants of abandoned buildings on the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) site have vacated the premises. The relocation was to support Myanmar refugees who had been living in unsafe conditions within the development area.
Participants and Targets
The programme involved Myanmar refugees who had been residing in the area, specifically members of the Chin community. TRX City, UNHCR and CRC, worked to ensure a smooth transition for these refugees. The initiative also engaged other stakeholders, including property owners and local authorities, to facilitate the relocation process in a structured manner with care and dignity. This project highlights TRX City’s dedication to social responsibility by safeguarding vulnerable communities affected by urban development.
