KUALA LUMPUR, 20 August 2018 – TRX City Sdn Bhd, the master developer of the upcoming international financial district Tun Razak Exchange, announced today that it is awarding Gadang Engineering (M) Bhd a RM86.086 million contract for its public realm infrastructure work.
The contract covers the structural work as well as hardscape and softscape for the North-West Plaza, which is TRX pedestrian entrance from Bukit Bintang, and the North East Plaza, also known as the Tun Razak Exchange MRT Plaza.
Gadang Engineering, a subsidiary of Gadang Holdings Bhd, will also be upgrading the streets immediately surrounding TRX, and providing landscaping works for TRX internal roads.
The tender for this contract was called in January of this year, following the pre-qualification exercise in October 2017.
TRX’s public realm makes up more than a quarter of the TRX development, covering the North West and North East Plaza, as well as the 10-acre city park that is part of its Lifestyle Quarter, undertaken by the joint venture between TRX and Lendlease.
The public realm is a vital component of TRX’s masterplan that emphasizes on incorporating the district into the existing urban fabric of the Bukit Bintang shopping belt. Pedestrian connectivity to the district via the North West Plaza, along with the public and private transport linkages, ensures TRX’s role as the future CBD of Kuala Lumpur, and its most accessible district.
TRX features an integrated MRT interchange station that hosts Sungai Buloh-Kajang line and the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line. This is further supported by direct links to major thoroughfares such as Jalan Tun Razak, the MEX highway, SMART Tunnel and upcoming DUKE 3 (Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway).
